About Us

We are a true system of martial arts, with a world renowned Grand Master. All of our instructors maintain a personal relationship with Grand Master Dong himself. Instructors receive a minimum of monthly training from him at the headquarters school in Richmond, Virginia & are completely accountable to Grand Master Dong for personal training as well as the development of students.

Martial arts is just not a sport for us, it's a way of life. We teach a code of conduct emphasizing high moral character. Students are encouraged to perform well in school and to honor their parents and siblings. Members of our system are encouraged to help in their community through volunteer work and other positive activities.

While we are both WTF (World Tae Kwon Do Federation) and ITF (International Tae Kwon Do Federations) certified through Grand Master Dong, we work more as an ancient warrior type school preparing for real life situations. We train 50% foot & 50% hand techniques as well as grappling and ground techniques. Our students are prepared for tournaments and real life situations.

When our students are ready for black belts, they test before Grand Master Dong & a panel of high ranking black belts in our system. Their black belt status will be recognized world-wide & recorded in Korea.

We do our very best to have fun. The things that are important in life should be presented in a positive manner. While some may like the old styled drill sergeant teaching, Advanced World Martial Arts System feels that we do much better if we are inspired. If intimidation is not a good trait for a student, then why use it to teach? We want our students to love the arts as we do...For that reason, We strive to make learning fun!
